In practice, Non Healing Ulcer/Chronic Wound/Chronic Ulcer (Dushta Vrana) is a common condition which has proved challenging to the medical practitioner. Similarly, wound healing is the major factor in surgical practice. Even though healing of a Vrana (Wound) is a natural process of the body, the Vrana should be protected from Dosha Dushti & from various micro-organisms which may hamper the natural course of Wound healing. As the sciences have advanced, newer therapies are being tried out to boast the recovery process. Acharya Sushruta “The Father of Indian Surgery” has explained Vrana in detail in his classical text “Sushruta Samhita”. 1. Purification of body by Ayurvedic Panchkarma Therapy (Specifically by Vamana (medicated emesis) and Virechana (purgation) procedures)
